Dr. Fishman is board certified in Internal Medicine and a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS). He focuses on evaluating and treating individuals with complex, often undiagnosed, persistent conditions. While his focus is on the medical aspects of diagnosis and treatment, he integrates both nutritional and immune support methodologies in his medical practice.

Dr. Fishman expanded on his training at the University of Illinois Medical School with a residency and fellowship in Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic and has spent more than 50 years as a clinician in private practice. His experience includes serving as a physician in the Air Force, the Medical Director of nursing homes, as a preceptor of medical students, and until 2019, Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the Georgetown University Medical Center. 

Dr. Fishman is an accomplished speaker and educator in nutrition and medicine. A current focus is the epidemic scope and nature of chronic infections and inflammatory consequences of tick-borne illnesses, including the Persistent Lyme Disease Complex.
